PaperMap

How it works

From PYQs to a plan to a checked answer.

Here is exactly what PaperMap does with past papers, how your plan is built, and where its limits are.

How it works

A loop that gets sharper every day you use it.

Past papers decide what matters. Your plan decides when. Your own answers decide what to fix next.

  7. ↺ becomes the next day’s plan
  1. 01

    Pick your subject

Choose a subject code like BCS303. PaperMap shows every topic coloured by how often AKTU has asked it, with repeated questions grouped.

  2. 02

    Get your plan

Enter your exam date, hours per day and how confident you feel per unit. Get a daily list ranked by expected marks per hour.

  3. 03

    Write, snap, improve

Write an answer on paper, photograph it, and Answer Coach shows what an examiner would miss. Weak topics move up tomorrow.

Under the hood

How PYQs are mapped to topics

The heatmap is only as good as the mapping behind it. This is the pipeline every subject goes through before it is marked live.

  1. 1Collect papersPrevious-year AKTU end-semester papers for each subject, across multiple sessions.
  2. 2Split into questionsEach paper is split into individual questions with section, marks and year.
  3. 3Map to the syllabusEvery question is tagged with the syllabus unit and topic it tests, using the current syllabus for that subject code.
  4. 4Group repeatsReworded versions of the same question are grouped, so frequency counts reflect topics, not wording.
  5. 5Human reviewMappings are reviewed by people before a subject is marked live. Corrections from students feed back in.
  6. 6Score topicsEach topic gets: times asked, last year asked, total marks carried. Topics never asked are flagged.

How the plan ranks topics

For each topic, the planner estimates expected marks per hour: how much the topic has historically carried, divided by the time you are likely to need given your confidence for that unit. Your daily hours and the days left decide how far down the list you go. Check-in results adjust your confidence automatically.

Honest limits

What PaperMap can’t do.

We would rather you trust us a little less than trust us wrongly.

Past patterns, not predictions

A frequently asked topic is likely to matter, but nothing guarantees it appears in your paper. We never claim to know the paper.

Syllabus changes

When AKTU revises a syllabus, older papers may include topics that moved or were removed. We map against the current syllabus and flag out-of-syllabus questions.

Answer Coach can be wrong

It estimates marks from key points, diagrams and structure. Unclear handwriting, poor lighting or unusual-but-valid answers can throw it off. It is practice feedback, not official marks.

Coverage takes time

We are starting with CSE core subjects for semesters 3–6. Electives and allied branches come later — check the subjects page for what is live.

It doesn’t teach concepts

PaperMap tells you what to study and checks what you wrote. Learn the concepts from your notes, textbooks or lectures.
